Please consult the website, The Virunga Project, to find an example of Pre-AP strategies used by Mme Hilger's French 1 students during April and May 2015, to build background knowledge of the following AP themes:
* Global Challenges (Economics, Environmental Issues, Human Rights, and Peace and War),
* Personal and Public Identities (Languages and Identity, Multiculturalism, Nationalism and Patriotism), and
* Families and Communities (Age and Class and Citizenship),
while incorporating the students' first, second, and third languages and in accordance with the California World Language Standards (Content 1.1; Communication 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, and 1.6; Cultures 1.1 and 1.2; Structures 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2, Settings 1.1).
N.B. - A Word to Parents, Administrators, and Colleagues:
In order to support our FLE (français comme langue étrangère) learners, the resources for each of the six AP themes, the four language domains (listening, reading, speaking, writing), grammar, and vocabulary will include scaffolding which incorporates the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).... The CEFR has been implemented across the globe by the esteemed French Institute / Alliance Française and subdivides material according to the following descriptors:
* A1 - Beginner
* A2 - Advanced Beginner
* B1 - Intermediate
* B2 - Advanced
* C1 / C2 - Expert
